A Round Adjustable Dining/Cocktail Table by Jean Royere*
About the Item
A round table featuring a quartered Oak veneered top with a round base in black lacquered metal edged in brass. The table top is held up via a center rod with multiple black lacquered metal rod and brass spheres along the bases edge. The table has an adjustable mechanism allowing the table to be lowered to cocktail table height or raised to dining table height via the center rod. Designed by Jean Royere, France circa 1950, made by Martin and Guenier Paris. The table has its original Martin and Guenier label to the underside. Please see the book "Le Mobilier du XXeme Siecle" by Pierre Kjellberg for a illustration of a nearly identical Royere table.
Samuel Botero's comment regarding this piece: "A simple mechanism which is also the design element of this table takes it from a small dining table to a cocktail table by a mere twist of the top. It is brilliant in it’s simplicity and beauty. This is really form and function at it’s best. I am please that you do not push a button to make it go."
