Sculptural concrete coffee table by Donatas Žukauskas

About the Item
A fusion of sturdiness and elegance, archaism, and modernity, is a distinctive feature of tables It is a functional piece of art adding a unique touch to any interior.
The material from which the table is made is the result of various experiments. It is a mixture of several components: the largest part is paper pulp and cardboard. Although paper is often associated with fragility, when mixed with other materials and dried, it acquires the properties of wood, a natural texture, becomes strong, but is slightly elastic, so it does not split or crumble.
By using paper in my works, I give it the properties of wood again: natural texture, strength. It's like giving a tree a new life.
Also perfect for use as a coffee table, end table or nightstand.
This material does not change color over time and is not afraid of moisture, dust can be wiped with a damp cloth.
The coffee table can be equipped with a glass top, the diameter of the glass top is up to 90 cm / 35". The table is sold without a glass table top. The glass is glued on metal brackets. At the customer's request, the brackets will be attached to the table and glue will be added in the packaging. The customer will only have to order the glass and glue it.
All products are handmade and unique, so they may differ slightly from the image in the photo.

"Imperfection as a way to create beauty". Cracks, splits, random spots and unpredictable results in a sculptural plastic form, such imperfection fascinates me, I strive for it in almost all my works. I am a interior designer and creator of interior details from Lithuania, I have been creating sculptural interior objects for more than 15 years, combining sculpture, design and artistry. I use a concrete-like material, which is the result of various experiments. It is a mixture of several components: the largest part is paper pulp. Although paper is often associated with fragility, when mixed with other materials and dried it becomes as strong as wood, it resembles concrete but is slightly elastic, so it does not split or crumble. It took a lot of testing to find the right ratio of materials to create a rough or smooth surface, water resistance, rigidity, and elasticity. By using paper in my works, I give it the properties of wood again: natural texture, strength. It's like giving a tree a new life. This is the third tree life. My works decorate houses in USA, Australia, France, Sheraton hotel in Qatar, Doha.

- Contemporary curved coffee table, oak, black concrete by Donatas ŽukauskasBy Donatas ŽukauskasLocated in Rudamina, LTCoffee table "WAVE" The visual inspiration for the coffee table is a combination of natural wood and concrete. These two opposite materials combined, create a unique character of the product that has the coldness of concrete and the coziness of wood. Although wood and concrete have different properties, in interior they are complementary and perfectly compatible. The main goal of the project was to create not only a piece of furniture, but also a sculptural and elegant detail of the interior. The tabletop is made of natural oak, and the base of the table, resembling concrete in appearance, is made by pouring solid mass, which is closer to wood in its properties. The set task was technologically challenging - it was necessary to fuse wet mass and moisture-sensitive wood. The entire structure of the table is manufactured at the same time, so that the two materials join together smoothly and precisely to avoid any gaps. After the product dries, it is scrubbed, and the tabletop is oiled. The black concrete...Category
