About the Item

A coffee table made for living spaces that are looking to express uniqueness and a distinctive character. As a piece it is both furniture and sculpture. Once in a room, it expands the spacial quality of the interior by offering new perspectives and multiple ways for framing the space. The table is made from two identical wooden shells and a glass top. The two shells are arranged together in reversed postures and are joined to create a structure for the glass top. The unique arrangement of the parts makes the table look different when viewed from different angles giving the table its sculptural quality. The table was named Élevé, a ballet term that derives from the French verb élever meaning “to raise” and it refers to how the table’s parts seem to be lifted from the ground in a playful composition that suggests the lightness and motion of dance moves. The most talented artisans use old and new technology to craft a technically sophisticated piece of furniture that has required more than ten years of product development to build. The table’s base is made of strips of steam-bent solid ash wood that are glued together and machined using a multi-axis CNC machine and the top is in 10mm toughened transparent glass.
