This meditation stone coffee table exemplifies organic modern style with an emphasis on natural materials. The tabletop is solid stone unearthed from Jiangsu province, comprised of white marble with spectacular mineral inclusions. Currents of pink, black and light green swirl throughout the stone, drifting across the field of white like a shimmering cloud or crashing wave.
For use as a coffee table, the stone is paired with two sculptural wooden legs, each power-carved from reclaimed silver maple into spherical shapes. A local Chicago artisan carves the maple with handheld tools to create these unique, contoured forms that perfectly balance the colorful stone top.
This sculptural table consists of three separate pieces. The stone slab is not affixed to the wooden legs and its heavy weight keeps it stable. The slab weighs approximately 250 lbs.
