In the style of Willy Rizzo Bar cocktail Coffee Table, 70s - 1970, Italy - Cidue

About the Item

Willy Rizzo Bar cocktail Coffee Table, 70s - 1970, Italy edited by Cidue. . Superb rectangular coffee bar table opening onto a stainless steel basin with a plexiglass bottles holder. . Cidue edition . No scratches and no shock on the top glasses (a very small mark/crack on one corner of the glass top shelves (see picture)) and a slight black mark on one of the side glasses (see picture) which in no way detracts from the beauty of this piece. . The contours of the table are golden in color. The color has faded in almost all areas of the gold lines of the table which in no way distorts the beauty of this piece. The stainless steel edges are slightly worn in places but the table is in good vintage condition. One of the bottom of the black melamine has been also slightly damaged but it remains discreet because I applied a black vinyl/PVC over it which discreetly hides the previous impacts. This model is particularly rare because the 4 sides of the table are also in tinted glass which makes it even more beautiful. . Dimensions unopened : . Length : 130 cm Width : 80 cm Height : 34.5 cm . For your information : Born in Naples, Willy Rizzo began his career as a photographer in Paris very early in the 1940s. A great photographer of personalities, fashion and major reports, he has exhibited all over the world: at the Galerie Agathe Gaillard in Paris, in the Bukamura Gallery in Tokyo, at the Maison de la Photographie in Moscow, at the Mallett gallery in New York and London, at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco, and even at the MUBE in São Paulo. In 1968, he moved to Rome and began his work as a designer for his personal needs because, according to him, "Scandinavian furniture was neither comfortable nor luxurious enough". Faced with demand, he created his workshops in 1970 and launched his points of sale all over the world. "Imagination and strong modern style" are the words that define his style. Today his Elliptical marble table is exhibited at the MoMA in New York. Willy Rizzo married Dominique Rizzo in 1979. They have three children, Willy Jr, Camilla and Gloria. In 2009, they opened the Willy Rizzo Design and Photography Studio at 12 rue de Verneuil, in Paris, in the Saint-Germain-des-Prés district. Willy Rizzo died in 2013 but his Studio continues to bring his work to life through exhibitions and numerous projects. . Imagination and strong modern style, which blends very well with any other environment” defines the Italian style of the years 1965-1980 which Willy Rizzo claims. As the designer says so well, it all started in a hairdressing salon, located in Piazza di Spagna in Rome, at the end of 1966. While his wife Elsa was having her hair done, they both discussed their installation in Italy, where their respective careers so often take them. Willy likes this neighborhood, he asks the hairdresser if there is a real estate agency nearby. “Of course, just around the corner but you will need a miracle to find an apartment”. And the miracle happened in the form of a second floor occupied by a shirt manufacturer with a view of Piazza di Spagna. It was a very abandoned one-room commercial space, with no water supply and practically uninhabitable. He immediately signs a six-month rental contract and returns triumphantly to the hair salon, all in 45 minutes. . With a group of artisans from the neighborhood, Willy transforms this room into an apartment. He wants brown and gold walls, an all-silver kitchen, black floors and ceilings. Then he designs furniture: sofas, coffee tables, consoles, hi-fi furniture and everything else. The result is very chic. Willy Rizzo never intended to become a furniture designer, his friends simply saw what he had done in his apartment and fell in love with his furniture. And since he had a lot of friends in fashion and film, orders came pouring in. One of his first clients was Ghighi Cassini, social columnist for the American Hearst newspaper who coined the term "Jet Set" to describe the universe and lifestyle that Fellini immortalized in La Dolce Vita. Cassini wanted a modern apartment in a classic Palazzo. Willy Rizzo has always loved beautiful things, beautiful antiques, he knew how to create contemporary furniture that blended in perfectly with the old. This order called for others, from all the Jet Set and wealthy Italian high society. Don't hesitate to ask any question :) Returns of this beautfiful coffee table are not accepted. It s in good vintage condition.
