The Terra Table draws its essence from the “terra roxa” landscapes of Minas Gerais, where the rich, iron-infused clay paints the earth in deep, warm hues. This distinct color and texture echo the table's design, inspired by ancient native Brazilian sculptures. For Nayara, these forms aren’t just artistic; they resonate with personal memories—of seeing the vibrant red soil on drives through the countryside, and the traditional water filters that brought the earth into everyday life.
Combining the hand-shaped bases with a steel top, the Terra Table is about more than just contrast; it’s about connection. The imperfections in the top weren’t just accepted; they were necessary, allowing the industrial
element to find its place alongside the organic, tactile bases. Together, they create a seamless dialogue, where each element enhances the other, balancing rugged textures with fluid lines.
Produced in limited editions, each table embraces subtle variations that make it unique. The Terra Table embodies aeny studio’s philosophy: to see beauty in the unrefined, to find strength in imperfections, and to honor the connections between different forms, materials, and stories.
Founded by Nayara Nascimento, aeny studio challenges conventional design by transforming discarded and repurposed materials into sculptural objects that are both expressive and functional. Drawing inspiration from the raw, untamed beauty of nature, a deep connection to her native Brazilian heritage, and a neurodivergent perspective, Nayara’s work embodies themes of resilience, imperfection, and transformation. Each piece invites viewers to see beyond function or decoration, revealing deeper narratives that explore the unexpected beauty in raw, unrefined forms.
Nayara’s process is led by an instinctive engagement with the materials, allowing her to embrace their natural textures, quirks, and irregularities. Whether working with wood, metal, or gypsum, she treats each creation as an opportunity to explore new possibilities, letting the materials guide the design. The hands-on, experimental approach means no two pieces are alike—each object is a testament to the fluid, organic nature of creation, where unexpected outcomes are celebrated, not corrected.
In an industry driven by uniformity and mass production, aeny studio’s approach is intentionally slow and mindful, letting each piece emerge at its own pace. This deliberate method allows for moments of spontaneity and unplanned gestures to become integral parts of the design, making each piece feel deeply personal yet universally relatable. By honoring the
imperfect, Nayara’s work challenges us to reconsider what we value, encouraging a return to a more instinctive, tactile way of seeing and engaging with the world.

The idea was born after deciding to reconnect with my family and my grandfather – a sculptor artist. Learning to sculpt and being a designer compelled me to combine these two mediums and use their best values. Experimenting with the functionality of sculpture and the meaning of furniture led me to create the collection.
Studio AOAO is an interdisciplinary studio combining art and design. It was created by Alicja Strzyzynska and Onur Iseri in Amsterdam in 2020.
“We specialise in making sculptural pieces by experimenting with the functionality of sculpture and the meaning of furniture. In our works, we focus on the emotional connection between the object and the user. All of our work seeks the experience of intimacy and the metaphysical bond between personal interaction and meaningful narrative. Through sculptural value and reflective design, we aim to create pieces that last for generations and help reduce environmental waste.”
The inspiration to sculpt came from Alicja’s roots, her grandfather – an artist sculptor. Alicja completed Masters of Arts Degree in Product and Visual Communication Design at Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts and finished her bachelor degree in Interior Architecture. Alicja previously worked in Tokyo and Amsterdam in architectural design studios. Onur completed his business studies in Japan and worked in digital design & marketing as well as teaching in Tokyo.
