About the Item

The Vetta coffee table evokes mystical and metaphysical inspirations associated with reaching the peak. Its formal simplicity, composed of a simple solid (cone) intersected by a plane, conjures abstract mountain landscapes. The conical body, crafted through the casting of fresh concrete, symbolizes the challenge and journey towards the summit. This contrasts with the tabletop, made from a blend of cementitious mortar and inert material derived from waste of past productions, harking back to the ancient Venetian Terrazzo flooring technique—an example of creative recycling ahead of its time. This contemporary reinterpretation imbues the "Vetta" coffee table with a new expressive dimension and uniqueness. Designer: Alessandro Gorla, Studio Algoritmo Use: Indoor/Outdoor Forma&Cemento's products are handmade in Ultra High Performing Cement mortar! Our production process is completely artisanal and for this reason each piece is unique and no two are the same. To preserve the beauty of our concrete and highlight its peculiar features we use colour pigments which are poured directly into the concrete mixture. Any imperfections on the surface such as chromatic variations, porosity, fine cracks, and granulations of different colors are characteristics of the material and of the artisan process;for this reason they are not to be considered defects. Forma&Cemento, the Italian brand of excellence in artisanal cement processing, stands out for its commitment to environmental sustainability, embracing a philosophy that is reflected in every phase of the production process. The company's mission is to offer unique and customizable products made with high-quality materials and a keen eye for the environment. At the core of Forma&Cemento's production is UHPC cement, a high-performance cementitious mortar that ensures not only durability and strength but also a reduced environmental impact compared to traditional cement production processes. The artisanal craftsmanship and expertise of the design and artisan team allow for the creation of lightweight and sturdy products, transforming cement into an ideal material for furnishing both indoor and outdoor spaces. One of the main criticisms raised about the cement industry is the environmental impact associated with CO2 production. Forma&Cemento addresses this concern by inviting reflection on the durability of its products. Similar to a glass, whose longevity compensates for the impact of the production phase over its expected lifespan, Forma&Cemento products are designed to last a lifetime. The durability of these products sets them apart from less sustainable materials, such as plastic or paper. Sustainability goes beyond product durability: Forma&Cemento has implemented a closed production cycle, where waste from one production becomes the raw material for another product. A notable example of this innovative use of waste is the creation of products with a "terrazzo" effect. All materials used are selected based on sustainability certifications and sourced locally, reducing the CO2 impact associated with transportation. The choice to use sand from the Tiber River, among the same materials used by ancient Romans, pays homage to tradition and serves as an example of how the modern can draw from a rich historical legacy. Through a "made-to-order" production approach, Forma&Cemento avoids excessive warehouse costs and further reduces CO2 emissions related to transportation. The meticulous selection of environmentally friendly materials and ongoing research to create new cement mixtures by integrating waste materials attest to the company's consistent commitment to increasingly sustainable and environmentally respectful production.
