The bench YAKI is made of burned oak with clean and natural modern shapes, which reminds the simplicity of forms from the mid-century. The light reflected by the black texture adds another layer of depth to the overall shape of the bench.
Yakisugi is an ancient Japanese exterior siding technique that preserves wood by charring it. The process involves charring the wood, cooling it, cleaning it and finishing it with a natural oil. It is an environmentally friendly way to preserve the timber and paradoxically make it fire resistant. Chemical preservatives and retardants are thus unnecessary.
