In 2016, Leonardo Di Caprio presented at the Milan Design Week the cabinet Ziggy, born from a study of Brazilian indigenous jewelry design. Geometric shapes and combinations of colors of bracelets, necklaces and wedding jewels were his inspiration, which resulted in a cabinet that translates colors and geometric shapes into contemporary language by using the marquetry technique combined with contemporary production with laser cutting machines and lacquer painting. In 2018 the new ZiggyPliss coffee table was launched. A design which incorporates the Brazilian indigenous people’s jewels reference with the plissè technique of the fashion world, translating both furniture. Made with CNC and laser cutting machines, it combines 13 pieces in its composition (in contrast with the 2120 pieces of the 2016 cabinet), bringing the geometric forms of the indigenous ceremonial jewelry and the fashion plissè reference.
