Antique Swedish Gustavian Neoclassical Painted Wooden Console Table

About the Item

A stunning Swedish Gustavian period (1772-1809) console table. Hand-crafted in Sweden in the early 19th century, Louis XVI Neo-classical taste, the muted dark cream with pale greenish undertone painted pine frame finely decorated with gilt gold floral details, rising on fluted square tapered legs, topped with the a rectangular salmon marble top with molded edge. Marks / Signed: Retaining Lockson London import label Stamped "US GOV Property" to inside of frame, leading us to suspect this table spent time in a US Embassy Provenance / Acquisition: Imported by Lockson London / New York to a private Dallas collector by Eric Prokesh, an award-winning interior designer who has been featured on HGTV, design books and publications, and calls Fort Worth his home. Acquired from the highly reputable auction house Dallas Auction Gallery, Dallas, Texas. The Estate Of A Dallas Gentleman catalog. Owned and curated by Reyne Hirsch, a media personality and expert in 20th century decorative arts. She's was a top appraiser for Antiques Roadshow on PBS for 13 years, as well as a leading contributer to the Huffington Post, New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Architectural Digest, amongst other publications. She's also founded highly regarded art galleries and exhibits throughout the United States. Dimensions: (approx) 32" High, 35.5" Wide, 16" Deep Having the ideal size and proportions for a variety of different uses, including as a hall console, sofa table, accent table, petite buffet server, or placed in the foyer as a stunning entry statement piece! *Additional photos available upon request Great antique condition, especially considering its around 200 years old. Well preserved, having desirable beautifully aged warm distressed patina over the whole with typical chippy paint losses and exposed gesso, especially to the legs.
