20th Century Rare Pascal Mourgue “Atlantique” Dinette Set, 1980’s for Artelano

About the Item

A rare dinette set by famed French designer Pascal Mourgue (1943-2014), son of the legendary French industrial designer Olivier Mourgue (born 1939), best known as the designer of the futuristic Djinn chairs used in the film 2001: A Space Odyssey. The table has a clear bevelled 0.38 in. (1 cm.) thick glass sitting on top of three black lacquered tubular metal rings, all supported by 4 tapered tubular legs. Each gondola chair is made from double-walled semi-circular screen-like perforated metal sheeting, a padded black vinyl seat, the whole resting upon 4 tapered tubular legs. In terms of condition, there is a small chip to the edge of the glass. One of the chairs has a minor dent approximately 10 in. (25.4 cm.) in length running horizontally in the middle on the back curved wall. There are some minor abrasions on the edge of both chairs and minor crackling of the vinyl on one chair. This is consistent with the age and usage of the set. Despite this, we can say that the overall condition is very good considering that this set is at least 40 years old. DIMENSIONS: table height: 30.25 in. (76.8 cm.) diameter of glass: 30 in. (76.2 cm.) diameter of table: 18.25 in. (46.3 cm.) height of chair: 33 in. (83.8 cm.) width of chair: 18.38 in.
