Early 20th Century Chinese Elmwood Altar Table, Late Qing Dynasty

About the Item

An antique classical Chinese elmwood altar table, late Qing Dynasty, circa 1900, China. The elegant altar table crafted in the traditional manner with joined elmwood and aprons featuring carved and pierced spandrels with an abstracted qilong dragon design on both sides. The stretchers carved and pieced with a design of a vase and flower encased in a geometric ruyi, a Chinese symbol of authority and good fortune. The top of the altar table composed of three solid planks of beautifully figured elm. The table finished with a light, clear lacquer. Measures: H x 36.5" to top of flange H x 35" to tabletop.
