English Late 18th Century Console Table with Marble Top and Carved Apron

About the Item

An English console table from the late 18th century, with marble top, cabriole legs, fluted apron, carved shell and lion paw feet. Created in England during the last decade of the 18th century, this wooden console table features a rectangular white and grey marble top with rounded corners in the front, sitting above a carved apron. Accented with fluted motifs, behind which a sinuous line exposes its graceful scrolls, the apron is adorned with a central carved Saint James shell with traces of a yellow and black polychromy standing discreetly out on the natural patina of the rest of the structure. The table is raised on four cabriole legs resting on finely detailed lion paw feet with acanthus leaf accentuation. The sides echo the same décor while the back is simply painted. With its graceful lines, marble top, skillfully executed décor and natural patina, this late 18th century English console table will bring a touch of undeniable elegance to any home, particularly placed in a living room or foyer.
