French 19th Century Louis XVI St. Burl Wood, Mahogany, Ormolu And Marble Console
About the Item
A stunning and high quality French 19th century Louis XVI st. Burl wood, Mahogany, Ormolu and Breche Violette marble console. This magnificent console is supported by two rectangular Mahogany and Burl wood feet with an Ormolu Coeur-de-Rai upper band. Two beautiful Ormolu caryatids with rosettes on either side stand above fluted movements with Burl wood reflecting its shape and foliate decorations surrounding the fluted patterns. The straight apron displays a central faux drawer with a panel of Burl wood flanked by two smaller panels of Burl wood and Ormolu acanthus leaves on both corners. Running along the lower edges of the apron are two parallel Coeur-de-Rai Ormolu bands that extend around to the back of the console. The mottled edge Breche Violette marble top follows the shape of the console and is finished with a mottled edge.
