French Carpenter's Workbench in Beechwood, Dated 1919

About

A large beechwood carpenter's etabli workbench, French, 1919. Made and marked by J.G. in 1919, the workbench shows signs of decades of hard use, just as you'd want on such a piece. It has a beautiful, warm surface with lots of cuts and pitting, as well as drilled holes for various tool storage. One large iron clamp can be placed in any of the larger holes. A smaller wooden clamp sits flush on the left side near the massive wooden clamp worked by the large steel bar screw. A single drawer on the right with twisted iron drop pull, and a swivelling hidden wooden grease pot on the left. Sturdy wooden legs and a pine planked bottom shelf for storage. Excluding the clamp, table depth is 21".
