  • Tianjin Style Sideboard With Original Patina and Original Hardware
    Located in Chicago, IL
An exceptionally original 19th century household storage coffer in the Tianjin Style. Tianjin is a large city in Northeast China that acts as the port of Beijing. It was a prosperous city and the furniture made there was known for is solidity and clean, balanced lines. Tianjin storage chests typically feature heavy brass handles and lock plates. Tianjin chests usually have three large drawers across the top two large doors below. The piece was probably part of a dowry and exhibited in a highly visible part of the home. The whitish deposits on the legs suggest that the piece sat on a terra cotta...

A Qing Dynasty period painted sideboard from the 19th century with distressed patina and three drawers over two doors. This Qing Dynasty period painted sideboard from the 19th century is a remarkable piece of historical furniture, showcasing the rich heritage and skilled artistry of its era. The sideboard features a distressed patina, lending it an aura of time-worn elegance and storied past.
