Pair of Grecian Plain Style Pier Tables

An attractive satinwood and faux painted satinwood pier table in the manner of Seddon, Son and Shackleton.

Attributable to the New York cabinetmaker, Joseph Meeks & Sons, a very beautiful American Empire console or pier table in the Grecian style in fine West Indies mahogany with Italian black, nero portoro marble top that has white & some warm gold veins. New York, circa 1830. Top rests over a base whose apron offers a sculpted ogee edge & is supported by "S" shaped volutes. An inset mirror takes up a good part of the back, allowing for the reflection of light as well as affording the ability to check one's clothing & shoe apparel. Customarily, a pier table like this would have been placed at an entrance, hallway or staircase landing & would have been paired with a tall vertical mirror which would have hung above the table or partially rested on top of it. Original porcelain casters are concealed within the square feet. Restored in our workshop with a French polish finish. Note: You should always request a shipping quote. A pair of French Neoclassical style walnut console tables from the late 19th century with red and grey marble tops, brass and gilt accents and single drawers. Created in France during the later years of the 19th century, each of this pair of walnut console tables features a rectangular variegated red and grey marble top sitting above a single dovetailed drawer. Fitted with a linear brass handle, each drawer is surrounded by a thin gilt frame and is flanked with brass reeded accents in the corners. The sides and back showcase a similar décor creating a perfect visual continuity. Each table is raised on four fluted tapering legs adorned with gilt accents on the upper and lower rings.
