Fabulous chow legs grab your attention to this beauty and then you get distracted by its other attributes. It is expertly comprised of a gorgeous, stained wood with a lustrous finish. The tabletop has two glass inserts and a central inlay in an arranged diamond pattern which is all framed by wonderful burl wood veneer. This table has such intricate detail; it is simply stunning. And it features a convenient lower shelf for smaller items, books, or décor of your choice. This sofa table or console table is attributed to Schnadig Furniture. However, we have seen similar styles by designer Michael Taylor for Baker Furniture too. And perchance it has a little James Mont infamous flair! With a proud heritage that can be traced back to 1880, Schnadig International Corp. has long stood for well designed, well-made furniture. Lawrence Schnadig’s first memories of the furniture industry would date back to his childhood going to Pullman Couch Co. with his father on Sunday mornings. He would begin his career with Pullman Couch Co. as a salesman in 1930 shortly after he graduated from The University of PA at the Wharton School of Finance. He later went on to become president of that same company. In 1951, he formed Schnadig Corp. in partnership with Sears, Roebuck & Co. Though Sears' interest was later purchased, it still sells furniture manufactured by Mr. Schnadig's company today. The firm is one of the nation's largest upholstered-furniture manufacturers. He was respected for his dedication, integrity and for the quality of his products. "He was one of the very outstanding leaders in the furniture industry, going all the way back to the 1930s," said Nat Ancell, founder of Ethan Allen furniture, who knew Mr. Schnadig for 67 years. Mr. Schnadig was inducted into the Furniture Hall of Fame in 1990. He was 89 when he died in 1997 and his furniture is still globally integrated and well known for its standards of quality and style. There are five distinctive portfolios related to Schnadig Furniture - Schnadig, Schnadig HOME, Compositions, Caracole Light, and Caracole. This sofa table is just what you need to add a touch of chinoiserie to any room in your home be it backing a sofa or hugging a wall.
