This antique library table/desk is a stunning example of Italian walnut craftsmanship from the 17-1800s. With its intricately carved border and trestle base, it exudes traditional elegance that will enhance any home office or study. Italian walnut library table, 18th/ 19th c., carved egg and dart border, over two drawers, rising on trestle base, joined with possible later stretcher, ending on bridge feet, approx 33"h, 80.5"l, 31.5"w. A really outstanding piece, probably 18th c.
Wear and imperfections commensurate with being moved, age and use.

Empire furniture has simple geometric shapes with distinct angles. Decorations and motifs are symmetrically placed on both sides. Like Neoclassic style furniture, ancient Roman and Greek elements strongly influence Empire pieces.
