19th C. Irish George III Carved Mahogany Kneehole Desk
About the Item
An Irish George III knee hole desk in dark mahogany with shaped top with carved edge and canted corners. With a long apron drawer over two side drawers flanking the carved leafy openwork knee hole. Carved foliate supports lead into the elaborately carved cabriole legs with leafy scrolled knees and hairy hoof feet. Patinated brass bales for the drawers, lacking a key. The Desk was refinished at an earlier time leaving a natural and more contemporary presentation.
Dimensions: L. 41, Depth 22 3/4", H. 30"
Condition: Please see detail photos. Various signs of age include stable age splits into the top on the right side, a few gouges and scratches to the top surface (Shown in detail photos) and lacking a key while retaining a very fine Georgian presentation.
