    a Fantastic English center desk, made of mahogany and inlaid with fruit woods. Beautiful quality of wood and shape, original leather and in excellent state of preservation. At the front we have 9 drawers, and at the back two doors and a false drawer. Signed by S. & H. Jewell inside the center drawer. There are Small defections on the desk but if the buyer would like in 5 days we can restore it. Obviously included in the price. Measurements are 168 wide, 82 deep maximum and 58 minimum in center, 77 high with original brass casters. S. & H. Jewell were cabinet makers with premises in Little Queen Street, Holborn, in London. They were founded in 1830 and were a family business. They are listed as having sold their furniture to Standen House, the Arts & Crafts home in East Grinstead. They also restored antiques and sold them from their London shop.
