20th Century Imperial Bureau Plat / Writing Desk in the Style of Louis XVI

About the Item

Imperial bureau plat / desk in the style of Louis XVI Piano black polished veneer on solid oak and wood. Extremely finely chased and rich bronze applications. Rectangular body. A hand painted picture badge on the front and side view. Gilded bronze decorations embedded on the front, flanked by conical, fluted legs ending in sabots. The front and the sides are each provided with round hand painted paintings depicting Greek scenes. Frame richly decorated with bronze in the form of fabric drapery / garlands. Frame with three drawers frieze made of acanthus leaf fittings. Slightly protruding leather plate (real leather) with gold embossing. The bronze works from contre partie consist of climbing leaves. Beautiful patina, with shellac hand polish. The inside of the desk was completely veneered with exotic wood. It is a desk of superlatives and represents the highest class of writing furniture.
