Antique French Louis XIV Parquet Desk ~ Dining Table in Stripped Oak
About the Item
Antique French Louis XIV Parquet Desk ~ Dining Table in Stripped Oak is a jewel of the cabinetmaker's art! The top features an unusual contour that resembles an oval but with notched corners creating a very traffic-friendly design. The top is fitted with hand-cut parquet with alternating grain patterns which presents an interesting visual effect. The tailored apron follows the contours of the top, and hidden on the ends are two drawers that open to reveal amazing storage. The top is supported by four boldly scrolled and carved cabriole legs which are in turn connected with double lyre stretchers centered with an acanthus rosette. The legs are each carved with scallop shells and acanthus fronds both descending and ascending up from the feet for a majestic look. Painstakingly stripped using our proprietary process that retains the patina and sheer natural beauty of the old wood, all performed by our expert in-house staff.
