Antique Spanish Carved Walnut Baroque Partners Desk Writing Trestle Table 1880

About the Item

A fine quality antique 19th century Spanish Baroque carved walnut & hand-forged iron trestle partner's table or desk, circa 1880. A partner's table allows two people to sit opposite each other with drawer space on both sides, this very nice example in the Spanish baroque taste has a carved gadrooned top. To each side are three carved fronted drawers, each with the original brass teardrop shaped pulls with a six petal floral brass lock escutcheon. Each side having corresponding carving, at each corner of the desk are a pair of carved acanthus leaf corbel brackets. The table with carved lyre shaped trestle ends is joined with a hand-forged iron stretcher, the table is raised on scrolled feet. As the table is carved on all sides and has drawers on both sides it can easily 'float' in the middle of a room. The table is in excellent condition, it has just been lovingly waxed in Bloomsbury's professional workshops and has a warm mellow dark honey patina and is ready to grace your home or office.
