Beautiful live Edge Cherry Desk - In The Manner of George Nakashima
About the Item
If I had a place in my own home I would be keeping this desk. The legs are turn of-the-century industrial Iron. The original paint patina was untouched to offset the perfectly finished wood table top. These legs are heavy but have a beautiful and delicate profile. The top is a thick slab of cherry with 3 sides cut square and a live edge front. The top has 4 wood butterfly joints in the style of Nakashima.
The joints are in a light contrasting wood making then an important decorative element. The top was done in a smooth satin natural finish. All the natural wood splits were filled with a dark resin.
