About the Item
Beautiful writing desk, Vienna 1810-20, in the style of Josef Danhauser, walnut veneer. The hexagonal legs have a gorgeous herringbone veneer pattern. The top stands out for its root veneer grain.
The desk comes refinished with a shellac hand polish.
The design of this unique table shows definitely the influence of the famous Austrian Biedermeier furniture designer Josef Danhauser (1780-1829). Danhauser was the leading furniture maker in Vienna at that time and had many royal patrons.
