Distinctive and functional, this furniture system with a unique character was available in preconfigured options or could be customized using flexible modular components to create L, S, T and U configurations. The work surface rests on high-precision die-cast aluminum spokes. The leg supports, made of steel and enameled in black shadow earth, have aluminum bases with 0.6-cm adjustable feet. With the tabletop available in two different shapes and made of glass, stone or laminated materials (wood), Burdick tables presented functionality with sophisticated character to any space. The aluminum center bar gives the Bruce Burdick-designed Burdick table its unmistakable profile. It featured customizable variants with a range of components (drawers, footrests, etc.) this table with a sophisticated and also distinctive character, highly functional and infinitely adaptable. Aesthetically attractive and made of fine materials and clever design--you can run cables along the spokes and aluminum base. Modern as early as mid-century In 1923 the Michigan Star Furniture Company became what we know today as Herman Miller, when D.J. De Pree and his father-in-law Herman Miller purchased the company. De Pree renamed the company using Miller's name. As early as the mid-20th century, the Herman Miller brand had become synonymous with "modern" furniture. De Pree first hired designer Gilbert Rohde in 1930, ushering in an era of modern, problem-solving-oriented design. Fifteen years later it was the turn of George Nelson, who changed the fate of the entire company. Inspired by design and with the support of De Pree, Nelson brought in his contemporaries, such as Charles and Ray Eames, Alexander Girard, and Isamu Noguchi, to produce furniture that later became modern classics. Herman Miller, an innovator in contemporary interior furnishings, joins the MillerKnoll collective in 2021, an unprecedented brand platform created to design the world we live in.
