Chinese Black Lacquer Writing Desk, c. 1900
About the Item
This five-drawer writing desk from the early 20th century has a timeless simplicity, designed with clean-lines and an even, black lacquer finish. Crafted of northern elm (yumu), the desk features straight corner legs ending in hoof feet and provides ample storage with three large upper drawers and two lower drawers at either end. Richly aged from years of use, a glossy black lacquer finish darkens the exterior, decorated only by the shimmering gold color of the brass drawer pulls.
