About the Item
Elegant Continental (possibly French) Empire bureau-plat or partners desk. The pearwood top, inlaid with a center-star-motive and small decorations on each corner, made of a light colored wood. The frieze containing five drawers, the middle one opening from the front only, the flanking side drawers accessible from both sides, Giltwood mounts / escutcheons. The four corners adorned with ebonized and gilt wood caryatid figures, the legs ending in stylized ebonized feet above gilt wood blocks decorated with a palm-leaf design.
