About the Item

A magnificent desk with 2 drawers designed by Ekselius and produced by the Swedish firm JOC in the 1960s. It is essential and radical, in the purest Scandinavian style. The clean, graphic lines and walnut grain make this desk an elegant, still very modern choice. Karl Erik Ekselius studied cabinet-making in Germany and then went on to study furniture design at the Carl Malmsten School in Stockholm. He worked for J. O. Carlsson (later known as JOC Möbel AB) in Vetlanda and became owner of the company in 1961. He was one of the leading Swedish designers of the Scandinavian modernist movement, and loved working with richly grained woods such as walnut, rosewood and teak.
