Egon Eiermann High Writing Desk Produced by Gustav Veith, 1968

About the Item

A rare piece of furniture, designed in a small number of pieces for the German government by architect 'Egon Eiermann', which, incomprehensibly, never received adequate attention and recognition, on the art and design market! The standing desk is a unique furniture design that, beyond its functionality, is extremely beautiful and, in combination with the high-quality materials, is an obvious, atmospheric and practical enrichment, both in the public and especially in the private sphere. In short, a masterpiece of furniture design! The piece of furniture was designed in 1968 by the German architect Egon Eiermann and produced in a very small series by Gustav Veith in Freiburg. The frame, standing on four black lacquered plate feet, is made of grey lacquered square steel, on which the wooden corpus, veneered in walnut, is mounted. The hinged writing tray is coated with white plastic. Finally, above the writing tray is a lamp housing made of folded sheet metal, also lacquered in grey, in which a fluorescent tube is mounted as a light source.
