English Georgian Chippendale Mahogany Architect's Table with Candle Slides

$4,950

About

This English Georgian Chippendale period architect's table in mahogany has two side candle slides, a long drawer, and a rising top. The top has a feature that allows it to rise using a double articulating mechanism. There is a removable paper rest on the top which keeps paper or books from sliding off when the top is raised; it can be removed and generally is when the writing surface is not raised. There is a roll for holding a roll of paper. The top can rest flat with or without the paper rest so this versatile piece of furniture may be used as a normal desk, or the top has multiple heights to which it may be raised so drawings can be made standing or using a tall bench. The square Chippendale legs are enhanced by a lambs tongue detail, chamfered interior edges and original small period wheels, circa 1780.
