About the Item
An English, George IV / William IV, late regency period solid mahogany double-sided library writing table of rectangular form and rare scale, the tooled-edge dark gray leather top inset above long aprons either side with banks of two drawers having original turned knobs raised on boldly turned legs with original brass casters. Tables of this depth are usually 6' or more in length and this one being just under 5' make it a highly desirable and rare size.
The double-sided form of this table is commonly, but incorrectly, referred to as a "partners desk" due to its binary arrangement, however by definition a partners desk is of double pedestal design. In addition to its original purpose, it could be chicly used as an unconventional dining table; clearance from floor to bottom edge is 23.88".
