A Fine Quality Louis XVI style Ormolu Mounted Mahogany Bureau Plat by Alexandre

About the Item

Contains gilt ornaments and a frieze of putti in heaven on either side. Topped with blind-tooled leather, an inset writing surface. Contains one large drawer that runs the width of the table. Maker: Alexandre Chevrié Origin: French Date: circa 1878 Dimension: (H)28 1/2 in. x (W)49 in Alexandre Chevrié established himself in 1878 at 11 rue Portefoin then at 7 rue Braque in 1886, where he owned workshops and a storefront shop . He was a manufacturer of art furniture, small style furniture and artistic fantasies. He participates in the Exhibitions of 1878 and 1889, where he got a silver medal. He was four times a jury member, and in 1894, not competing, decorated with the Legion of Honor.
