About the Item

A rare and important desk by French avant-garde architect Alain Marcoz; the piece was hand made for his Parisian home, circa 1956. The desk or writing table in solid oak has a unique trapezoidal form resting on three angular shaped legs creating a dramatic modern form. Two drawers complete the piece. This is a daring and original composition by Marcoz. It was a forward advancement in design history having the desk resting on only 3 legs, each being of unusual form and topped by a trapezoidal form. The piece also has a aesthetic connection with Italian Futurism where the works had a sense of perpetual motion and speed.
