French Writing Desk with Embossed Leather Top in the Style of Louis XVI

About the Item

An elegant French Louis XVI style writing desk featuring an inset, embossed chestnut brown leather top with a hand applied gold leaf trim. This desk has two extendable leaves, which pull-out from the sides of the desk, providing additional surface space. It has a stained wood frame with patinated brass detailing and two drawers, which retain their original keys. Four tapered, fluted legs with brass sabots complete this piece. Unmarked. Sourced in France, 20th Century.
