Impressive French Writing Desk in the Antique Style of Louis XIV Mahogany Bronze

About the Item

Royal palisander and tulip wood on softwood. Three-part straight frame base. Slightly protruding, broadly framed writing surface, inlaid with gold embossed leather surface, including three drawers of different sizes with decorated frieze of acanthus leaf fittings. Wide knee compartment, flanked on both sides by three drawers with embedded filling flanked by fittings in the form of female masks on a curved frame. Opposite lying drawers. The fittings are pronounced and of exceptionally good quality. The brass pieces from contre partie consist of climbing foliage.
