Mid-century modern Severin Hansen Teak Desk

About the Item

Desk designed by Severin Hansen in Teak wood for Haslev Møbelsnedkeri. Denmark, 1958 Simple and refined lines, featuring four frontal drawers with the desinger’s signature diagonal wood ensamble, the drawers are both a functional and a decorative element, the back of the desk can be displayed as it is finished in a refined teak wood back. Danish designer Severin Hansen's iconic Model 36 desk was designed in 1958 and exhibited at the annual Cabinetmakers' Guild Exhibition held in Copenhagen that same year. It went on to become one of the most coveted and recognized desks of the Danish modern period. Severin Hansen (1914-1987) designed for the Danish company Haslev his more iconic pieces during the 50s – 60s when he developed simple and elegant furniture. His tables are the most sought after among his productions. His designs are famous for the outstanding use of noble woods and proportions. This and the simplicity of the design render this piece a unique example of mid century design.
