Rare Early 19th Century American Baltimore Federal Parcel Gilt Writing Desk

About the Item

A very fine and rare early 19th century American Baltimore Federal painted writing table with fabulous parcel gilt detail throughout. The moulded top of rectangular form is fitted with a gorgeous green embossed tooled leather writing skiver surface raised over single drawer frieze with decorative brass pulls and adorned to the centre with beautiful gilt flowerhead and trailing bellhusk foliate motif detail. The shaped and pierced side supports with further painted and gilded decoration and applied flowerhead paterae raised above elegant outswept scroll legs joined with finely ring turned cross stretcher.
