Italian Small Writing Desk in Mahogany

About the Item

Small writing desk, mahogany, brass, Italy, 1950s. Sculptural Italian desk with beautiful curved top. This writing table is both refined and elegant in every way. The boomerang shape of the tabletop gives the piece a playful yet elegant character. Overall, the desk shows interesting lines and curves and is proved with a very nice 'X' shaped leg. The leg creates an openness and shows an outstanding eye for detail and proportions. The brass feet detail finish the design in a wonderful way. The left part of this desk features a gorgeous drawer section with sculptured handles. This decorative detail characterizes the design even more as an eye-catching piece. The desk is very reminiscent of the style of Ico Parisi, Gio Ponti and Orsvaldo Borsani. Please note that this item is in great, used condition. It has been restored in our atelier. The mahogany type of this piece does not require an export license.

Italian Smaller-Sized Table or Writing Desk w/Shapely Hourglass Legs, 19th C.
Located in Atlanta, GA
An Italian small sized table, or writing desk, from the 19th century. This antique table from Italy features a rectangular-shaped top overhanging an apron fitted with a single drawer at one long side. The table is raised on a pair of hour-glass shaped legs flanking either side, with beautifully carved outer edges. A wooden stretcher bar adds support between the legs and is carved with a small arch at center and pierced cut-out embellishment. The medium tone wood has an old patina throughout, a lovely reflection of it's age. The leg clearance at the underside of this piece is 25.25 inches in height. This 19th century table with shapely hourglass legs would make a delightful little writing desk...
