Scandinavian mid century birch pedestal desk

About the Item

Scandinavian mid century birch pedestal desk circa 1940. Excellent example of mid 20th century Swedish design and craftsmanship. 3 part pedestal desk taking inspiration from the empire and deco periods with modern finishing. Writing surface in birch with moulded edge and a stepped freize, 3 deep drawers to the front which open on the key, complete with concealed brushing slide to the right hand side of the seated position. Pedestals are decorated with 2 dark stained burr birch columns front and back. Right hand pedestal is fitted with 3 oak fronted drawer slides, with a single shelf in the left hand side. Standing on a plinth base and contrasting flat bun feet. Deep rich colour, working locks and key. This desk has recently been re-polished in our workshop and is ready for everyday use. 1 small area of veneer wear to 1 drawer front. Knee height: 25 2/3" Knee width: 22 1/2"
