Ste. Marie & Laurent Chrome Cantilever Desk Credenza, Newly Restored, circa 1960
Expertly restored desk credenza designed by Ste-Marie and Laurent. The original white leather top has been recently re-dyed a fresh white which contrasts wonderfully with the black high gloss piano finish of the body. The "Piano" finish was a higher cost option that leaves this example in a stunning and high quality finish that can last a lifetime. The front of the credenza is flanked by two deep file drawers which both have locks, along with a set of 4 keys provided. The piece sits on a cantilevered polished chrome base creating the illusion that this sideboard is effortlessly floating. This particular example is quite unique as it is designed (with the scalloped area which creates leg-space) to be used in a number of ways. It can either be placed behind a seated desk area so that the individual can swivel around in their desk chair and use as a supplemental 2nd desk, or it can be used as a smaller desk in a room where space is limited. Alternatively, this can also be used as a larger console table with the addition of lockable drawers which you don't normally find on console tables and can be quite useful in a myriad of occasions. This sleek, modernist piece would be a great addition as part of a classic or contemporary dining room, living room, den, man (or woman!) cave, family room, office or entryway. It would also be an apt choice in a corporate, retail or hospitality location such as a boutique hotel lobby, cocktail bar, members club, workspace studio, executive office or in a luxe clothing emporium.
