Unique Desk or Table Made by Jens Harald Quistgaard in 1953, Solid Teak and Oak

About the Item

A stunning Scandinavian solid unique teak & oak table or desk with continuous drawer and slightly sloping legs and two crossed iron bars. The desk was drawn and executed as a special assignment by the famous Danish designer Jens Harald Quistgaard in 1953 for a family member. The desk has an amazing patina and is in good original condition. Great craftsmanship and brilliant design. The table can be used as a small dining table or a desk. Provenance: The table was designed by Quistgaard in 1953 for Bent Von Rehling Quistgaard, who was a cousin of Jens H. Quistgaard. This table was bought directly from the son of the original owner in 2022. Attached original letter from Jens Quistgaard with the following text confirms the table's origin: "Dear Bent! Thank you for your letters - I have some prices for you and they are quite a bit higher than I assumed my self - the table top will cost app. 178 kr. in oak and 208 kr. in Bankok teak and the frame app. 100 kr. - maybe a litte less - app. 300 in total - which is a bit - but stilll cheap - I reccomend teak as all oak imported and Danish - is fresh and steam dried - by the way teak matches oak quite well - the colour is almost the same - I have tried all my connections and 3 new places in total 7 including here in Vordingborg - they are all closed for the holidays the first 14 days and then they have one month's delivery - it has changed since I had a couple of tables made 2 years ago - hope to hear from you soon and I am sorry that I can not force the matter with threats of loosing me as a customer and such - ha ha.
