Unique Italian Sculptural Free Standing Writing Desk in Walnut
About the Item
Executive desk, walnut, brass, glass, Italy, 1950s
Made in Italy, this writing desk is designed according to the midcentury design principles that were in vogue in the fifties. The desk bears witness to the designer's excellent taste for form and harmonic compositions. The X-shaped legs extend outward and firmly secure the top, making a compelling impression. The top is equipped with a glass plate and is coated with a rich, earthy red lacquer finish. The back features vertically carved lines, imparting a rhythmic touch to its design. Three drawers provide space to store one's stationary. The desk shows strong resemblances to the designs of the Italian designers Gio Ponti (1891-1979) and Ico Parisi (1916-1996). All things considered, this desk attests the work of a designer and an artisan. Whatever perspective you take on it, every angle provides a different visual excitement. Therefore, this writing desk truly intensifies the experience of working itself and is a standout that can be placed in the heart of one's interior.
