About the Item

This is an elegant dining set comprising an antique George III Regency Period dining table with a fabulous set of twelve antique Regency dining chairs, all Circa 1820 in date. The elegant antique George III Regency triple pedestal dining table dates from Circa 1820. The botanical name for the mahogany this table and chairs is made of is swietenia macrophylla and this type of mahogany is not subject to cites regulation. The table has two additional leaves which can be added or removed as required and is raised on triple bulbous columns and splayed quadruped supports which are fitted with brass paw feet and castors. The well figured top with rounded ends is of beautiful flame mahogany and there is no mistaking the fine craftsmanship of this handsome dining table. The set of twelve antique English Regency Bar Back dining chairs, are also Circa 1820 in date and compliment the table perfectly. The set comprises twelve chairs masterfully crafted in beautiful solid flame mahogany. They each have elegant scroll carved bar backs with fan splats raised on stylish foliate carved sabre legs, with stuff over removable drop in seats that have been reupholstered in a sumptuous rose pink velvet fabric There is no mistaking the fine craftsmanship of this handsome dining set which is certain to become a treasured addition to your furniture collection, and a talking point with guests at meal times Condition: In excellent condition the table having been beautifully cleaned and waxed and the chairs reupholstered and polished in our workshops, please see photos for confirmation. Matching his words to his work, Sheraton designed much mahogany furniture. The qualities that impressed Sheraton are particularly evident in a distinctive pattern of wood called "flame mahogany." The flame figure in the wood is revealed by slicing through the face of the branch at the point where it joins another element of the tree.
