Dining Table and Chairs with Carved Palm-Frond Motif, France, circa 1940s
About the Item
Elegant painted dining room table and four chairs of unusual design.
The rectangular table has a white marble top with a wood surround and is raised on tapering legs carved with a delicate scalloped palm-frond or feather-like design. The apron echoes this frilly motif on the two long sides.
The chairs have an almond-shaped design on the backs, ending in a carved shell-like crest. The seats are upholstered in blue velvet and have roll-edge fronts. The legs are similar to those of the table.
