About the Item
Gijs Bakker is actually best known for his jewelry. This ‘Strip’ table and 6 Chairs is one of the few known pieces of furniture that he designed.
Perhaps that is also the reason why it has been included in the permanent design collection of the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam. Only 11,000 were produced without armrests and 1,000 with armrests. Tables even less. Gijs Bakker designed the Strip diningset for the Dutch furniture manufacturer Castelijn from Roelofarendsveen.
This rare set is an example in a very good condition. Hardly any wear or tear. The rectangular table is the rarest, as these sets generally came with a square brown laminated top table.
