About

1970s round sculptural handcrafted Trompe L'oeil rattan draped-sheet or ghost table and matching chair set. The table is handwoven in warm honey-colored wicker and is meant to fool the eye with the illusion of a skirted table. The bottom of the pedestal table base is wavy or scalloped and really does resemble the look of a draped sheet or "ghost". The chairs are a matching pair and were handcrafted and purchased together. With deep seats and arms, these chairs are a dream to sit in. Each chair comes with one white seat cushion. Cushions will likely need to be upholstered as there are a few tears. However, foam can be reused and is in wonderful condition. The entire set is in original condition, both the table and chairs are sturdy and structurally sound with small wear due to age and use. The table includes a large glass top making the table great for use as a dining table or breakfast table. (Or center table) Aged to absolute perfection. A magnificent dramatic illusion! Perfect scale and height to place a lamp upon as well. Would make a wonderful addition to a patio, dining room, or even to break the set up and put the chairs together in one room, and the table in another for a dramatic look. HISTORY: Trompe l'oeil ('trick of the eye') is the technique of using realistic imagery to create an optical illusion of depth. Artists have been perfecting it for centuries to create stunning illustrations and fool their audiences, while businesses have used it to create eye-catching billboard advertising and video campaigns. The draped wicker rattan or bamboo table is a coveted and difficult piece to find. Especially in a set as is this one. Condition
Wear consistent with age and use. There are small breaks and scuffs to the wicker throughout. Some scratches to the glass tabletop, as can be expected with age and use. Similarly, typical scratches and wear around bottoms of both table and chairs.
