About the Item
This is a superb vintage Regency Revival dining set comprising a monumental Vintage Regency style dining table and a set of eighteen Regency style barback dining chairs, dating from the second half of the 20th Century.
The large 17ft Vintage dining table is in elegant Regency style and crafted in flame mahogany. Capable of seating eighteen people in regal comfort it is an extraordinary piece of furniture which will add splendour to any room.
The table has three leaves which can be added or removed as required to suit the occasion and it is raised on four "gun barrel" triple splay leg bases which are fitted with elegant brass toes and castors.
The superb Vintage set of eighteen Regency Revival Bar Back dining chairs date from the second half of the 20th century.
Masterfully hand crafted in beautiful solid flame mahogany, the finish and attention to detail on display are truly breathtaking.
The set comprises sixteen side chairs and two armchairs, they all feature an attractive hand carved bar back design with 'drop in' seats that have been reupholstered in the finest azur and cream damask.
A truly monumental dining set which will be a talking point at your next dinner party.
THE BOTANICAL NAME FOR THE MAHOGANY THAT THIS ITEM IS MADE OF IS SWIETENIA MACROPHYLLA AND THIS TYPE OF MAHOGANY IS NOT SUBJECT TO CITES REGULATION AND DOES NOT CONTAIN ANY RESTRICTED MATERIALS.

In excellent condition having been beautifully cleaned, polished and waxed and the chairs reupholstered in our workshops, please see photos for confirmation.

Flame Mahogany
Thomas Sheraton - 18th century furniture designer, once characterized mahogany as "best suited to furniture where strength is demanded as well as a wood that works up easily, has a beautiful figure and polishes so well that it is an ornament to any room in which it may be placed." Matching his words to his work, Sheraton designed much mahogany furniture. The qualities that impressed Sheraton are particularly evident in a distinctive pattern of wood called "flame mahogany."
The flame figure in the wood is revealed by slicing through the face of the branch at the point where it joins another element of the tree.
