The 18th century top has a partial natural aged seperation between the planks, the corners have been rounded, and recently it has been restained. The top and the base are attached by hidden metal brackets. These could very simply be removed, but secure top to base admirably. Overall, a very well presented table, strong and robust. Suitable for the rigours of modern life.
